Venezuela Earthquake: Business Continuity Update
Venezuela is confronting a major humanitarian emergency following two powerful earthquakes on June 24.
Authorities have reported a rising death toll, hundreds of injuries and extensive structural damage. Rescue operations remain underway, particularly in La Guaira, where dozens of buildings have collapsed and the full scale of casualties is still being established.
For members of the business community with personnel, counterparties or operations in Venezuela, the immediate priorities are:

• Determining accessibility of offices, residences, and operating facilities
• Verifying the operational status of key counterparties and service providers
• Accounting for infrastructure disruptions across transportation, power, telecommunications, and water

Simón Bolívar International Airport, the country’s main international gateway, has closed because of earthquake damage. Caracas subway services have also been suspended, while parts of the capital have experienced power and communications outages.
Conditions and service availability are likely to vary significantly by location. Organizations should avoid assuming that disruption in one area reflects conditions across the entire country.
